Questions
What is the difference between Pro HD and Free HD?
Pro HD sends the video to Beathex’s studio engines, which rebuild detail — faces, edges, text — so a 480p video really looks HD. Free HD runs in your own browser: nothing is uploaded and it takes videos up to 20 GB, but it only enlarges and sharpens what is already there.
Which engine should I choose?
Natural HD for real camera and phone footage — natural, no invented detail. Sharp HD for jingles, animated videos, phone clips and old films. Detail Max for the most detail on short clips and close-ups. Quick HD is the low-cost choice. Make a 5-second preview with each to compare before making the whole video.
Is my video uploaded?
With Pro HD, yes: it is processed securely by Beathex and deleted after 3 hours. With Free HD, no — the video is read and made on your own computer.
How big a video can I upscale?
Pro HD: up to 30 minutes and 2 GB (long videos are made in parts and joined). Free HD: up to 20 GB. Chrome and Edge on a computer read the video in small pieces and write the new one straight to a file you choose, so the size is not limited by memory. Other browsers keep the result in memory, up to about 1.5 GB.
What does Free HD do to the picture?
Each frame is enlarged on your graphics card with a professional resampling filter that keeps edges clean, then sharpened just enough to restore the crispness enlarging takes away. Use the before / after preview to choose Natural, Crisp or Extra crisp.
Will a 480p video look like a real 1080p video?
With Pro HD it comes close: the engine rebuilds detail that the small video only hints at, so faces, edges and text look sharp at 1080p. Free HD makes a clean, sharper 1080p file, but it cannot add detail that was never recorded. The previews show exactly what you will get.
How long does it take?
Pro HD: usually a few minutes for a short clip, longer for long videos — the page shows the progress. Free HD: it depends on your computer — its graphics card does most of the work — and on the video’s length. Once it starts, the page shows how many frames a second it makes and the time left. Keep the tab open; the screen is kept awake while it works.
Which videos work?
MP4 and MOV (phones, cameras, YouTube downloads) — H.264, HEVC on supported computers, VP9 and AV1. The sound is copied as it is. A WebM or MKV can be saved as MP4 first. The new video is an MP4 (H.264), which plays on every phone, TV and site.
