Questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. Everything happens on your device: the first time, your browser loads the editing engine from Beathex, and your files never leave your computer or phone.
How do I cut a song?
Open it in Cut & Fade, drag the two handles on the waveform to the part you want (or type the times), press Play selection to check, choose Trim to keep that part or Cut out to remove it, add a fade if you like, and press Save.
Can I join songs with a smooth crossfade?
Yes. In Join / Merge, add the songs, put them in order with the arrows, trim each one with its handles, switch on “Crossfade between tracks” and choose its length.
Why is a video cut sometimes instant and sometimes slower?
A plain trim of a video is copied as it is, which is instant but starts at the nearest key frame (usually within a second). Fades, removing a part, “Frame-exact cut” and joining videos re-encode the picture on your device, which takes longer for long or HD videos.
Which formats can I use?
Open MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG and most others, and MP4, MOV or WebM videos. Save songs as MP3, M4A or WAV, and videos as MP4 — or save only the sound of a video as MP3, M4A or WAV.
Is there a size limit?
The files of one job can be up to about 1.2 GB together, as the browser keeps them in memory while it works.
